A live synthesizer jam performed entirely on one synth with reverb.
Meris was kind enough to send along their Mercury X reverb pedal for me to try out. I've had pretty good luck with their LVX, and absolutely adore their Polymoon, so I was pretty excited to try it. I gave a few options to my Patreon community, but most agreed that they'd like to hear the Mercury X on the Moog Subsequent 37.
I thought I'd set the SS37 on the table and just noodle before making a song. But sure enough, the combination of a very pleasing synth sound with a very pleasing reverb was all it took for a song to form.
The Mercury X's presets weren't for me so much, but as soon as I initialized it and explored the algorithms, I quickly stumbled on a sound I liked. This is the "gravity" algorithm, with tails that seem to go on forever but also can relatively easily be replaced with new sound, which works well. It was a perfect pairing to an ambient, cinematic exploration with the SS37.
Ultimately I was done this jam before I had even intended to start it, which is a nice problem to have. It doesn't have to be hard sometimes, especially when the sounds are so intrinsically pleasing.
Thanks for listening.
