The Mariana and Palau Islands campaign, also known as Operation Forager, was an offensive launched by United States forces against Imperial Japanese forces in the Mariana Islands and Palau in the Pacific Ocean between June and November 1944 during the Pacific War. This campaign included the famous battle of the Philippines sea which decisively ended the naval air superiority of Japanese navy in the Pacific ocean. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Video link: Hiroo Onoda - The Man Who DIdn't Surrender for 29 Years:    • True Story of Hiroo Onoda: Soldier Who Did...   -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is Episode #58 of my World War 2 series - this series covers the entire timeline of the second world war.
