Purchase the book: https://link.amazon/B08eBH0nh As contractors in the trades, we're all trying to get better, both personally and professionally. That's why I started a series called Sunday Gems, where I share the best gems and nuggets from the books I'm reading and show you how to apply them to your contracting business, and even your everyday life. This week I'm talking about the book Unreasonable Hospitality - The remarkable power of giving people more than they expect by Will Guidara. Will Guidara comes from the restaurant industry but there are a ton of crossover lessons for the skilled trades. Let’s dig into my top 8 gems. 1. Service is black and white. Hospitality is color. 2. The 95/5 rule. 3. Listen for the "hot dog" moments. 4. Build a system for surprises 5. Intention in everything. 6. The first and last impressions carry the most weight. 7. Hospitality starts with your own team. 8. Own the mistakes, then make it right generously. You don't need a massive budget to stand out. You need to run a tight business, pay attention to your customers, and every once in a while, do something a little unreasonable. So here's my challenge for you this week: on your next job, find your hot dog. Listen for that one small detail and do something with it. And drop a comment below. I want to hear what your version of the hot dog is, or the best thing you've ever done for a customer. If you got something out of this, make sure you subscribe so you don't miss the next episode of Sunday Gems. I'll see you next Sunday.
