The Royal, Barmouth

Time for our first pub with a snooker table on Snooker Places, as well as our first visit to Wales. And there can't be many finer establishments in all these lands than The Royal in Barmouth. Yes they’ve got great bars, a games room, a restaurant, a balcony, rooms upstairs and a gorgeous snooker area, but what really makes it stand out is the extensive art work that adorns the walls and ceilings, thanks to local artist, Mervyn Rowe. He really has done something incredible to the interior. It's like going for a pint in an art gallery but with all the bonhomie and conviviality of a pub! The snooker table isn’t sectioned off from the rest of the pub in a private room, its an integral part of the space. Bags of character - just a great place to hit the green baize for an evening. As usual, some great snooker action on show and some of the most spectacular flukes I’ve ever seen! And it wouldn’t be Snooker Places without our traditional show closer, the Black Ball Finish. With much thanks to Rich and all the staff at The Royal for their warm welcome and for being so accommodating.
