Lexington and Concord reenactments bring history to life 250 years after the American Revolution

Gunfire rang out on the grassy common in Lexington, a quintessential New England town, just after dawn Saturday, signaling the start of daylong commemorations of the battles that opened the American Revolution. Two hundred and fifty years to the day, tens of thousands of spectators watched reenactors replay the opening salvos in Lexington and in Concord. In a country deeply divided and increasingly angry about politics, tens of thousands of people gathered peacefully. Some wore Red Sox hats, some wore MAGA hats, but they largely left their politics at home.
