Marjan Kiepura performs from Mazurka Op 17, No 4 to demonstrate the "Duda" effect.

In this clip, Marjan Kiepura discusses certain aspects of the mazurka form, in particular the sound of the historic Duda, a traditional Polish bagpipe which Frederic Chopin observed in the countryside. Chopin drew inspiration from this. Here Marjan performs the middle section from the famous Mazurka Op 17, No 4 which shows the "Duda" effect and how Chopin turned these forms into sophisticated concert works.
