NEC MOTORHOME & CARAVAN SHOW 2026

Our Overlander Build Journey Begins! 🌍 This year’s NEC Motorhome & Caravan Show was a little different for us… and a BIG milestone in our journey! 🎉 For the second time, we attended with press passes, giving us access to the show before the general public. And let us tell you… if you have a long list of things to see, people to visit and places to explore, having the show floor a little quieter is SO handy! But this visit wasn’t just about having a look around. This time, we had a mission. 👀 🏡 FROM CARAVAN HOLIDAYS TO BUILDING AN EXPEDITION TRUCK For years, we’ve holidayed in caravans. Our first was a ⁨@TheSwiftGroup⁩ Swift Signature, followed by a ⁨@KNAUS⁩ Südwind. We’ve loved our adventures, but last year we reached a turning point. After being quoted over £15,000 for a new kitchen, we started asking ourselves a big question… What if we sold everything we own and built an overlander expedition truck to travel the world full-time with our daughter and our dog? 🌎🐾 And so, the planning began! Fast-forward 18 months, and the day before we headed to the NEC, our house FINALLY went live on the market! 🏡 And as if that milestone wasn’t exciting enough, while we were at the show, we received a phone call about a viewing booked for Saturday! Things are starting to get VERY real! 🔧 SO WHY WERE WE AT THE SHOW? We knew we wouldn’t find our dream expedition truck at the NEC, but we knew we could find inspiration, explore different products and speak to people who could help us bring our vision to life. (and of course see ⁨@PeggyPegInnovativeSystems⁩ again after we last saw them in Germany!) But yes... this time, we had some VERY specific things to investigate: ✅ Shower systems and bathroom solutions ✅ Fridges and freezers ✅ Cooking equipment and kitchen setups ✅ Practical living solutions for full-time travel ✅ Off-grid capabilities ✅ Space, weight limits and the realities of life on the road We’re comparing what’s available now with the route we’ve chosen for our own build, explaining WHY we’ve decided to build our own expedition truck, what it could cost, the size and weight restrictions we need to consider, and how we plan to live off-grid while travelling the world. We know not everyone watching will be planning to build an overlander or sell everything to travel full-time, and that’s absolutely fine! ❤️ We want to share the whole journey — the adventures, the decisions, the research, the challenges, the costs and everything in between. But the rest of the boxes?
