Mechanical Gold Stripping Hack: Replacing Ceramic Media with Steel Nuts & Bolts! In my last video, we proved that mechanical tumble stripping works for recovering gold from gold-plated pins, but separating ceramic tumbling media was a massive headache. Today, we’re fixing that problem for good! By replacing ceramic media with ordinary steel nuts and bolts, we take advantage of magnetic separation. A simple pass with a strong magnet instantly separates all the steel media from the stripped pins—saving hours of tedious hand sorting. In this experiment, I run 3 comprehensive tests across 1.5 kg of gold-plated pins using corundum abrasive, steel tumbling media, and a continuous rotary tumbling setup.
