Choosing a Host and Supervisory Team (Predoc Fellowship Day)

This presentation is from the NIHR Research Support Service Predoctoral Fellowship Application Day, which took place on Tuesday 27th October 2026. The workshop looked at the foundations of a research career and what you need to have in place for a fellowship or placement and, for predoctoral awards and the pre-application support fund, the key elements required to develop a good research idea. The workshop helps you pick a good research area, choose the right supervisory team, design a career development programme and communicate well when writing your funding application. The workshop is aimed at UK-based health care professionals, social care, public health and other local authority practitioners, health researchers, charities and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who are intending to apply for one of these NIHR awards.
