🤿🚢 DIVING INTO HISTORY WITH GRATEFUL DIVERS WORLDWIDE! 🌊💙 The Okinawa shipwreck was an absolutely incredible dive! Getting to explore this historic vessel with Grateful Divers Worldwide made the experience even more special. From gliding over the wreck to swimming through the massive engine room, every moment reminded me why shipwrecks are my absolute FAVORITE dives! There’s something surreal about descending onto a ship that has so much history and getting to explore its structure underwater. Swimming through the engine room and seeing that enormous engine up close was an experience I won’t soon forget! 🤯 🤿 DID YOU KNOW? HERE ARE SOME COOL OKINAWA STATS! 🚢 Built: 1953 by Higgins Industries for the U.S. Army 📏 Length: 107 feet ⚓ Width: 26.5 feet 🏋️ Loaded displacement: Approximately 350 tons 🔧 Engine: A massive 40,000-pound Fairbanks Morse engine 🌀 Propeller: 8 feet in diameter and weighing over 2,000 pounds 🌊 Depth: The wreck rests at approximately 69–70 feet, with the top of the pilothouse rising to around 35 feet below the surface 📅 Sunk: 2017, becoming the 18th wreck in Shipwreck Park Pompano Beach The Okinawa was originally an Army tugboat known as LT-1970 before being named after the Battle of Okinawa. Today, it serves as an artificial reef and underwater attraction off Pompano Beach, Florida! 🤯🚢 Huge thanks to Grateful Divers Worldwide for making these adventures possible. As an adaptive diver, every opportunity to explore a new wreck reminds me how much is still out there waiting to be discovered. The ocean is my happy place, shipwrecks are my obsession, and this journey is far from over! 💙🤿 #GratefulDiversWorldwide #OkinawaWreck #ShipwreckDiving #ScubaDiving #AdaptiveDiver #WreckDiving #UnderwaterExploration #PompanoBeach #BlueTherapy #DisabilityDoesntStopMe #ScooterBobby
