Built around 1634–1635 during the reign of Emperor Shah Jahan, this historic royal bathhouse was commissioned by Hakim Ilm-ud-din Ansari, popularly known as Wazir Khan, the Governor of Lahore. Located near Delhi Gate in the heart of the Walled City of Lahore, Shahi Hammam was designed in the Persian and Turkish tradition of public bathhouses. It was not simply a place for bathing; it was an important part of the city’s social and architectural life. In this documentary, we explore the history, architecture and remarkable features of this 17th-century heritage site, including: The historical background of Shahi Hammam and its connection with the Mughal Empire.
