Velli Pani Malaiyin by Bharathiyar | Dance | Soundarya Sriram

It was an honor to choreograph and present 'Velli Pani Malaiyin' as a part of the Navi Mumbai Tamil Sangam's Independence Day Celebrations 2020. I have so many childhood memories associated with this song and to be revisiting it now, this time dancing to it, was both a challenge and a blessing. 'Velli Pani Malaiyin' is a patriotic poem composed by Mahakavi Bharathiyar and it was adapted in the Tamil film 'Kappalottiya Tamizhan' in 1961. This song is so, so close to my heart and the powerful voices of Sri Tiruchi Loganathan and Sri Seerkazhi Govindarajan tear me up every time. Subscribe for more videos like this one!
