I'm Writing a Biography of Ed Bickert

I'm writing a biography of Ed Bickert, the first book devoted to his life and career. Join the “Beam Me Up” Club for just $2/month! I post new videos every week, and your support helps make all of it possible—from guitar lessons and music content to my ongoing research for a book on the great Ed Bickert.    / @beyondthefrets   Some of the earliest videos on this channel were performances of Ed's solos. That fascination has grown into years of research, and I'm excited to share what I've been working on. So far, I've conducted more than twenty interviews with people who knew and worked with Ed, including Don Thompson, Rick Wilkins, Neil Swainson, and Lorne Lofsky. I'm also working with both of Ed's sons, with their permission, and have assembled an archive of decades of press coverage, researched his full discography, and helped track down rare recordings. I'll be heading to Toronto in November to continue the research. There's still a lot to uncover, and I'd love your help. How you can help: Publishing and production: If you have experience with book design, typesetting, or preparing text and illustrations for publication, I'd appreciate advice or an introduction to someone who does. Interview introductions: If you knew Ed, worked with him, or know someone I should speak with, I'd be grateful for an introduction. Materials: Photographs, letters, concert programs, recordings, and other relevant materials are all welcome. Even if you're not sure exactly what you have, a lead can be incredibly helpful. Email me: edbickertresearch@gmail.com Please don't post anyone's private contact details in the comments. An introduction or a private message is much better. A separate companion project focused on Ed's music is also planned for later, with transcriptions, analysis, and playthroughs. For now, the priority is telling the story of his life and career. Thanks to everyone who has already shared their time, memories, and knowledge. I'm looking forward to seeing where this project leads. #EdBickert #JazzGuitar #JazzBiography #CanadianJazz #JazzGuitarHistory #EdBickertGuitar #JazzHistory #BeyondTheFrets
