In this hands-on AWS tutorial, we explore how a VPC-enabled Lambda function can access Amazon DynamoDB privately, without using the internet or a NAT Gateway. Although DynamoDB is a regional public AWS service and not part of your VPC, AWS provides a way to keep traffic private using a Gateway VPC Endpoint. In this video, we break down the architecture and demonstrate how networking works behind the scenes. You’ll learn: • How Lambda connects to a VPC using an ENI • Why DynamoDB is outside your VPC but still reachable privately • How a Gateway VPC Endpoint enables private connectivity • The role of the subnet’s route table in directing traffic • How this same concept applies to EC2, ECS, and other VPC resources This is a key concept for building secure AWS architectures. 📂 Lambda source code used in this demo: 👉 https://shorturl.at/1ZA4Y If this video helped you, please like and subscribe for more deep-dive AWS tutorials.
