CreativeMornings Bengaluru Talk 116 | Nakhlah | 16 August 2026 Raj Narayan grew up in a home environment filled with innovation in music and engineering. His father, a mechanical engineer from Bengaluru and his mother, a Karnatic classical singer who also performed both Karnatic and Hindustani concerts on the veena, provided the best exposure to creativity at home. Passionate about aircraft at the age of 13, he grew up wanting to be an aircraft designer and so joined HAL immediately after graduating as an engineer. Over 10 years, as a performing flautist of classical music, his needs as a musician caused a change of track out of aerospace engineering into electronic musical instruments. What started as a hobby, turned into a revolutionary business that has kept both Raj Narayan and Radhika completely busy for the next 5 decades, full of innovative ideas, prototyping and serial production with customers ranging from children, amateurs and the greatest of Indian musicians. The talk will hover around the exciting interactions with top musicians, the pains of starting a small-scale industry in 1979 as first generation entrepreneurs and the pleasures of seeing the business grow into a Private Ltd. company being established in the prestigious Electronics City.
