Oil Change For 1996 Buick Roadmaster Station Wagon

This is an oil change tutorial for a 1996 Buick Roadmaster station wagon. This car has a 5.7 liter LT1 engine and uses 5 quarts of oil. The recommended oil grade is 5W-30. In this tutorial I used a WIX oil filter and Full Synthetic Royal Purple motor oil (5W-30). The vehicle dry weight is about 5,800 pounds. I used a jack to raise the car rated at 2 1/2 tons, which for raising just the front end is quite suitable. Before beginning an oil change, make sure that the car is on a flat stable surface and that you have the following materials: Jack Oil Filter Oil 2 Wheel Chucks 2 Jack Stands Wrench (with 13mm adapter) Oil Drip Pan Paper Towels (recommended). If you do not have a jack you can also use a ramp, but be careful that you don't run over your ramp. Prior to beginning the oil change make sure the car is warm. Standard operational oil temperature for a fully warmed vehicle is around 200 degrees Fahrenheit. You don't have to have it this warm, nor would you want to. Just warm enough to keep the fluid moving. This allows the optimum amount of dirty oil to exit your car before adding the clean oil. Make sure when adding your oil filter to wipe oil on the rubber rim to create an air tight seal. At the end of this tutorial I show you how to reset the oil light on your dashboard. NOT SHOWN IN VIDEO: Depending on the age and milage of your vehicle it is recommended to always add FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER at the same time of an oil change. After this oil change was complete I did add some Gumont Fuel Injector Cleaner to the car. Simply take the cleaning fluid and add it to your gas tank. A standard bottle treats 21 gallons of gas so make sure you have a full tank of gas to get the best cleaning. Roadmasters' have a 21 gallon (this model does) gas tank so one bottle will treat a whole tank. DISCLAIMER: I am not a mechanic. Just somebody trying to help.
