WWF Smackdown 2 (PS1) Unused Wrestlers (2/2): Ken Shamrock gameplay.

Gameplay of the unused wrestler Ken Shamrock in Yukes’ WWF Smackdown 2: Know Your Role. Don’t EVEN talk to me about Ken Shamrock in Smackdown 2. If you were born post-2000, then you probably never had to deal with the era of video game myths (read: bullshit your friend told you) which plagued us in the 90s and early 2000s. The internet wasn’t as widespread then, so we mostly relied on our friends and magazines to inform us of things, and fans of EGM will know that even then magazines would state outright bullshit or make untrue claims about games, sometimes without knowing it, sometimes intentionally. I remember tons of cheat books and magazines stated, amongst others, that Kenny Shamrock here was in this game, along with Dude Love. Yeah. Of course, it’s possible they got to play an earlier version of the game, given that Ken here not only has an updated costume but also a moveset as well, as Ken Shamrock was simply left out in the final release. Even if that is the case though, well, they still lied or mistakenly stated that he was unlockable, and my brother and I, like so many others, attempted to unlock the guy, only for it all to be in vain. But that, of course, is one of the points of doing a series like this; a lot of it comes down to rectifying the ills of the past and setting them right, and this is very much of those videos, as I finally get to achieve the impossible and play as Ken Shamrock in Smackdown 2. How is he? Well, very MMA-focussed, as you'd expect. Hell, even his finisher is an arm-bar take-down. Still, it's a little crazy there are two pretty much entirely finished characters in this game who are just totally inaccessible. Most of the time it's unfinished characters or unplayable NPCs, or the characters are more on a prototype level (as we'll see with British Bulldog in SVR). Speaking of NPCs, well, we're still not done with Smackdown 2, as there's a ton of those up next.
