10TH OCTOBER LOOKBACK The Tiree Wave Classic is back for its 42nd year! Subscribe for more action! Catch all the heats live, here on YouTube. #TireeWaveClassic #Tiree2026 #IsleOfTiree #Hebrides #OuterHebrides #ScottishIslands #DiscoverScotland #VisitScotland #NativeHebridean #PerfectStage -- The Tiree Wave Classic is the longest running professional windsurfing event in the world. It was founded in 1985 and has run to the present day. It showcases the best of the UK’s windsurfing talent across a number of fleets ranging from Juniors to World Cup Professional Windsurfers. For the first since 2007, the event is now a full World Cup event on the windsurfing world tour. With six of the top 24 wavesailors in the world attending, including the current numbers 1 & 2, it is sure to be an event to remember! Marc Pare (Spain), who previously won Tiree Wave Classic in 2018, is the defending World champion and currently ranked no 1. Philip Koster (Germany) has been the man to beat in high winds for the last 15 years and now wants to visit Tiree to win the famous 1st place Claymore sword to add to his trophy cabinet. Currently ranked 2 in the world, this will be his first visit to Tiree. Dieter Van Der Eyken (Belgium) was last year’s winner and returns to defend his title. Having driven 30 hours from Sylt in Germany to get here, we wish him the best of luck! Miguel Chapuis (Spain) was runner up here on Tiree in 2023 and returns to attempt to claim the top spot. Marino Gil Gherardi (Spain) is one of the most radical new kids on the block on the global stage. Watch out for his altitude above the water! Jules Denel (France) not only comes to compete but is bringing his family to show them Tiree and Scotland. On the British side we have Lucas Meldrum, Andy Chambers and James Cox as the established names and regular Tiree visitors, as well as rising rippers like Max Metcalfe who are now making waves on the UK circuit. In the women’s division Justyna Sniady (Poland) returns from the world tour to reclaim her crown having won the Tiree Wave classic in 2013 & 2014. Cori McFarlane returns to defend her championship as last year’s winner and previous winner in 2024. Other notables include the Miron sisters (Germany), Izzy Adcock, Georgia Stolliday and Caitlin Boothroyd from England. The event will primarily run from An Talla (Tiree’s Community Hall) as an event HQ but catering and refreshments will not be provided from An Talla this year with the key focus being on the competition itself at the beaches. Our youth camp, including some of the local kids, will run daily from the loch and from Gott and other categories will include Men’s and Women’s Amateurs, Masters and the Youth (or Future Pros) divisions for the competition. With an entry of around 75 this year and wind currently forecast, it is all go from Sunday onwards. Come and see us at the beaches! Information on where and when will be offered daily via Facebay Tiree.
