On the last full weekend of every August, Tweetsie Railroad hosts their annual Railroad Heritage Weekend. This event features both of Tweetsie's narrow gauge steam locomotives running two separate trains, double-heading and photo special either before or after park hours on one of the days. In addition to the festivities, they allow people to tour the locomotive shop, and they display many historical items inside the memorabilia room. For 2023, locomotive #190 was celebrating her 80th birthday. To celebrate, Tweetsie backdated her to her late 1960's - early 1970's appearance. Compared to her modern appearance, this certainly was a surprise. The changes included: The original number plate from the White Pass & Yukon The Tweetsie banner on the smokebox The diamond stack (the one on her is a temporary one they built for this Heritage Weekend Paint touch ups on the exposed wheels (driving wheels and lead truck), front of the cylinders, and the builders plate. *You will see the changes up close in part 1 (this video). *Part 1 features the first half of the days runs on Saturday August 26, 2023, a look at some of the significant items inside the memorabilia room, and a little later on we'll see up close looks at some of the changes on #190.
