It is the ground of every sadhana, the blessing before every practice, the "Universal Love" mantra 🙏🙏🙏 Lama Yeshe 🙏🙏🙏 called it. And now it has five musical faces. It is used to purify malas, statues, our cushion for sitting, our home, ourself, others, the sick, unhealthy environments. Why so powerful? It is the UNIVERSAL LOVE ONENESS PURITY mantra: oṃ svabhāva śuddhāḥ sarvadharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho ‘haṃ ॐ स्वभाव शुद्धाः सर्वधर्माः स्वभाव शुद्धोऽहम् This translates as — All Dharmas are Pure. This mantra is so universal, it is a part of every formal Sadhana and Puja of most teaching lineages. No permission is required to listen or to chant and meditate on the profound power of Oneness and Purit. The mantra's essence can be summed up in three affirmations: All things are pure in their fundamental nature. (The universal truth of these words.) I am not separate from that purity. (The personal understanding of these words) Therefore all beings are pure, and I am one with them. (The compassionate conclusion that manifests as Purity and Oneness.) This is why it can be used anywhere, anytime, and for any practice — waking, sleeping, before practice, after nightmares, to bless objects, to pacify places, to accompany the dying. It is not a ritual formula but a portable realization: a reminder that wherever we are, whatever we face, the ground of reality is purity, and we are never outside of it. FIVE VERSIONS? Yes, we did five versions in our mini album. This music video is only one of these. This version is dedicated to the Karma Activity Buddha Family and the All-Accomplishing Wisdom of the Karma family of Amoghasiddhi and Tara. But it can be used in any activity. Since it’s the same mantra as the other four in this series, this is a universal mantra of purification. We’ll explain… Here's the story: as we sat with the Śuddha Mantra— the Purity Mantra, the "Universal Love" mantra that begins every Buddhist practice — the band couldn’t agree on the right melodic approach. Then, we realized, because of the universal use of this vastly profound and important mantra, that you can chant and meditate on this mantra in many ways for many practices: energetic, peaceful, enriching, exciting and wrathful, and active. We understood that the same sacred syllables, the same melodic heart, could meet practitioners exactly where they are in whatever practice they focus on. So we recorded five distinct versions, each carrying its own tone, its own "persona," its own way of opening the heart, but unified by a melodic thread. These mirror the main practice approaches of the five Buddha Families, and the Five Wisdoms overcoming the Five Poisons. The same mantra can be pacifying, magnetizing, enriching, subduing and active, since this mantra contains the universal truth of “Oneness.” So, we ended on five melodic versions that make us think of the Five Buddhas, the Five Wisdoms, the Five Poisons to be Overcome, and the Five core methods of practice; pacifying, empowering, enriching, supressing and activity. It’s a bit of a unique experiment but we enjoyed exploring it! We hope you will too!
