Here's a blues piano improvisation based on a walking bass line groove. Instead of swinging the 8th note, this tune uses a straight 8th note feel, creating a sort of hybrid ragtime/boogie-woogie feel that's super fun to play! Black Bob had a great straight 8th sound. You can hear it on tunes he did with Big Bill Broonzy, like "Mountain Blues". Another pianist who grooved like this is 'Cripple' Clarence Lofton. This video was from a livestream concert on Facebook from 4/15/21. Subscribe to my channel to learn more about barrelhouse, early boogie-woogie, and other low down blues stylings.
