My latest project is building an OO Gauge Network Rain Inspection Train, converted from a second-hand Hornby Class 153 – fully operational with a Raspberry Pi powered video camera streaming a driver’s-eye view of my layout over the WiFi network.
In Part 1, I covered all the tech side of things ( • OO Gauge Class 153 Inspection Train – with... ), but in this section I focus entirely on the modelling. I’ll be walking through all the body modifications with 3D printed generator vents and window blanks, the repaint in the distinctive pale blue livery, application of home-made laser printed decals and installation of my own tiny 3D printed cameras.
And, after a final return to the internal gubbins, with repositioned components, I fit a 3D printed interior to finish the project.
All the .stls for the 3D prints and decals etc. can be found here on PaterPracticus.com: https://paterpracticus.com/inspection...
...and the Railtec transfers for the end numbers here: https://www.railtec-models.com/showit...
