This island is more than just a destination—it’s a living, breathing cultural hub where history, spirituality, and art come together. From crossing the river on a ferry ride from Nimati, to exploring the ancient Satras (monasteries) that preserve Assamese Vaishnavite traditions, this journey was nothing short of surreal. I witnessed the incredible mask-making art of Samaguri Satra, explored different Satras dedicated to music, dance, and wrestling, and experienced the simple yet profound beauty of Majuli’s landscapes. But more than the place, it was the people who made this journey special—especially Samiran, whose kindness and warmth reminded me why I love traveling.
