What happens when a professional bodybuilder who has spent nearly 30 years understanding the human body suddenly finds herself struggling with her own? This week on The Pressing Play Podcast, I'm joined all the way from Los Angeles by Corry Matthews, former professional bodybuilder, fitness and nutrition expert and women's health coach. When Corry entered her 40s, perimenopause changed everything. Despite decades of experience in fitness and nutrition, she found herself navigating unexpected changes in her body, confidence and mental health. And that's only part of her extraordinary story. We talk about perimenopause, hormones, strength training, nutrition, metabolism, body confidence and the frustration of doing everything you've always done, only to discover your body no longer responds in the same way. Corry also shares her experience of osteoporosis, a serious spinal injury and major surgery, and the determination it has taken to advocate for her health and rebuild her strength. One thing she said has stayed with me: "I'm not training for a stage. I'm training for my next 50 years." What a powerful way to think about midlife. Because this conversation isn't simply about managing menopause symptoms. It's about protecting our health, rediscovering our strength and recognising how much life we still have ahead of us. IN THIS EPISODE Perimenopause and why your body can suddenly feel unfamiliar Hormones, metabolism, nutrition and blood sugar Strength training and finding movement you enjoy Body confidence, identity and mental health Osteoporosis, bone health and advocating for yourself Rebuilding strength and resilience after major surgery Why your next 50 years deserve your attention ABOUT CORRY MATTHEWS Corry Matthews has nearly 30 years of experience in fitness, nutrition and sports medicine, including competing as a professional bodybuilder.
