The Jazzinvaders brought their danceable jazz-funk sound back to Big Rivers Festival in Dordrecht on Saturday 11 July 2026. This recording captures their live performance of "Hey Hey Yeah Yeah", a track originally released with none other than Dr. Lonnie Smith. It was a fantastic show, with an enthusiastic crowd putting on their dancing shoes despite the summer heat on this warm evening at the Dordrecht harbours. After years of silence, there's good news for fans of danceable jazz: The Jazzinvaders are back. The Dutch band, built around drummer/producer Phil Martin and saxophonist Rolf Delfos, is returning to the stage in 2026 and looking back on two decades of groove, soul and jazz with a brand new compilation album. The Jazzinvaders formed in 2005 after an inspiring session at Amsterdam's Bimhuis, where Phil Martin blended the hardbop jazz sound of The Houdini's with his own tight, danceable beats. The result was a fresh, funky sound that quickly caught international attention. Their debut album Up & Out (2006) led to successful tours across Europe and Japan, cementing the band's reputation as one of the most energetic jazz acts in the Netherlands. Despite various line-up changes over the years, Phil Martin and Rolf Delfos have remained the band's steady core, responsible for the warm, danceable groove that defines The Jazzinvaders' sound. Later albums took the band in new directions, including a collaboration with renowned Hammond organist Dr. Lonnie Smith, a disco-tinged dancefloor record, and a Brazilian-flavoured album featuring members of legendary jazz-funk band Azymuth. Now, in 2026, the band celebrates its 20th anniversary with a new compilation album, The Jazzinvaders - Time Travel, featuring remixed and remastered tracks from across their career plus previously unreleased material with Dr. Lonnie Smith and Azymuth. Alongside the release, the band is back on stage, bringing their signature mix of jazz, funk and soul to audiences once again.
