The Journey to Paranda -An Offbeat Roadtrip #offbeat #maharashtra #paranda #solapur #roadtrip
Some road trips are planned around destinations. Others are about discovering the stories hidden between them. Our journey from Lonavala to Paranda was one such adventure—an offbeat drive through Maharashtra filled with history, spirituality, ancient architecture, nature and unforgettable moments.
🌄 The Journey Begins — Lonavala
Our journey started in the beautiful hills of Lonavala. We packed our bags, got into the car and set off with one destination in mind—Paranda.
As we left the familiar green landscapes of Lonavala behind, the scenery gradually changed. The winding mountain roads opened into expansive countryside, small villages and agricultural landscapes. The drive itself became a reminder that sometimes the road is just as exciting as the destination.
🛣️ First Stop — Karmala
Our first stop was Karmala, where we took a break from the long drive and experienced the quieter side of Maharashtra.
Karmala became our introduction to this offbeat journey. Away from the crowded tourist destinations, we found ourselves surrounded by everyday village life, open roads and the simple charm of the region.
After spending some time exploring, we continued towards our next destination—Awati Sharif Dargah.
🕌 A Peaceful Stop at Awati Sharif Dargah
The atmosphere changed as we arrived at Awati Sharif Dargah.
After hours of driving, this became a peaceful moment in our journey. The spiritual atmosphere gave us an opportunity to slow down, take a break and experience another part of Maharashtra's cultural landscape.
It wasn't just another stop on our map. It was one of those unexpected moments on a road trip where you pause, look around and appreciate where the road has taken you.
🏰 The Main Destination — Paranda Fort
From Awati Sharif, we continued towards the highlight of our journey—Paranda Fort.
As we approached the fort, its imposing stone walls immediately caught our attention. The massive fortifications, old structures, cannons and historic architecture gave us a glimpse into the region's fascinating past.
Walking through Paranda Fort felt like stepping into another chapter of history. Every wall, passage and stone seemed to carry memories of another time.
We explored the fort, captured photographs and enjoyed the incredible atmosphere surrounding this historic monument.
After travelling all the way from Lonavala, reaching Paranda made the entire drive worthwhile.
🕌 Khwaja Badruddin Chisti Dargah
Our journey continued with another spiritual stop—the Khwaja Badruddin Chisti Dargah.
After exploring the fort, visiting the dargah offered a completely different experience. The peaceful surroundings and spiritual atmosphere created a beautiful contrast to the grandeur and ruggedness of Paranda Fort.
This part of the journey reminded us that travelling isn't only about seeing monuments and landscapes. It's also about experiencing the culture, traditions and stories that make a place unique.
🦩 Next Stop — Bhigwan
With Paranda and the dargah behind us, we continued towards Bhigwan.
The landscape changed once again, taking us from historic stone walls to open countryside and the natural beauty around Bhigwan. It was the perfect place to slow down after a day filled with driving, exploration and history.
The calm surroundings gave us time to simply enjoy the moment—and reflect on everything we had experienced during the trip.
🌅 The Road Back to Lonavala
Eventually, it was time to begin our journey home.
Bhigwan → Lonavala.
The return drive was long, but it didn't feel like an ordinary journey anymore. We had travelled through different landscapes, explored history, visited places of spiritual importance and discovered corners of Maharashtra that aren't always part of the typical tourist itinerary.
As we finally reached Lonavala, we realized something:
The real destination was never just Paranda. The destination was the journey itself.
From the mountains of Lonavala to Karmala, from the peaceful Awati Sharif Dargah to the historic walls of Paranda Fort, from Khwaja Badruddin Chisti Dargah to the natural beauty of Bhigwan—we returned with much more than photographs.
We returned with stories.
