Matthew 23 (WEB) | Jerusalem, Jerusalem | Bible Song

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to her! How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not!” Matthew 23 contains some of Jesus’ strongest words to the scribes and Pharisees. He warns against hypocrisy, pride, seeking recognition, and placing heavy burdens on others while failing to live according to what they teach. Jesus calls His followers to a different way: “He who is greatest among you will be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” Through His warnings, Jesus points toward what truly matters before God — justice, mercy, and faith — and teaches that outward appearances mean little when the heart remains unchanged. But the chapter ends not simply with judgment. Jesus looks toward Jerusalem with deep sorrow and compassion, longing to gather its people as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” 🎵 Scripture: Matthew 23 📖 Translation: World English Bible (WEB) 🎶 Series: Matthew – All Chapters in Order May these sung Scriptures help you slow down, reflect on God’s Word, and rest in His presence.
