Day Five of Beatleweek - Convention Day in the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool! Behind the scenes

International Beatleweek 2026 continues with one of the biggest days of the entire festival, the Annual Beatles Convention at Liverpool’s Adelphi Hotel. In this episode, I take you on a complete walk-through of the convention, exploring every room, stage, marketplace and hidden corner of the Adelphi to show you what this extraordinary gathering of Beatles fans is really like. Along the way, there is live music, rare memorabilia, special presentations and plenty of behind-the-scenes footage from inside the hotel. The convention brings together some remarkable people connected to Beatles history, including John Lennon’s sister Julia Baird; surviving original Quarrymen Colin Hanton and Rod Davis; Merseybeat legend Billy J. Kramer; Liverpool’s pioneering female rock-and-roll group The Liverbirds; former Wings drummer Steve Holley; leading Beatles historian Mark Lewisohn; Beatles Story founders Mike and Bernie Byrne; author David Bedford; Cavern historian Debbie Greenberg; Beatles artist Shannon MacDonald; Roag Best; and Barry Chang, who helped drive The Beatles to Hamburg in 1960. I also speak briefly with local tour guide Tom Calderbank about his involvement in bringing the Brian Epstein statue to Liverpool, and bump into talented young composer Patrick “Paddy” Bennett. The episode then takes us back to the Cavern Club, where we witness a beautiful moment as Celso from Brazil proposes to his partner Christina onstage—another reminder that International Beatleweek is about far more than music. It is about friendships, memories and people from around the world coming together through their shared love of The Beatles.
