Exploring Pasar Santa for the first time.
In this video, I spent a morning wandering around Pasar Santa, a unique creative market in South Jakarta that has become known for its independent coffee shops, vinyl record stores, vintage items, and many quirky little shops.
The day started with a short ride from Central Jakarta to the Blok M area before meeting a friend and walking together to Pasar Santa. Even though the weather was still drizzling after the rain the night before, it felt like the perfect morning to explore somewhere new.
Our first stop was Tuan & Nyonya Coffee, where I tried their kopi susu. The café had a cozy atmosphere, and there was even a cat quietly guarding the shop.
After that, we had a simple breakfast from Bread Mama Bakery & Kitchen, trying their Milky Way bread which paired perfectly with the coffee.
Pasar Santa is also known for its music culture, so we visited 33 RPM Record Store, a vinyl shop once visited by Ed Sheeran. Inside, shelves were filled with records from different eras, and we even listened to “Close to You” by The Carpenters on vinyl.
While wandering through the market, we explored many other small shops selling vintage accessories, unique decorations, secondhand items, and nostalgic objects that felt like stepping into a little time machine.
We also tried a vintage photobooth, browsed through creative accessory stores, and discovered many unexpected corners of the market.
Later, we stopped for lunch at R&D, where we ordered their Quackbonara pasta, one of their favorite menu items. The creamy carbonara sauce paired really well with smoked duck, and it was honestly so good that I finished it very quickly. For dessert, we tried lemon posset, which tasted fresh and perfectly balanced between sweet and citrusy.
One of the most interesting moments was watching the pasta being made in the kitchen, where the dough was flattened into long sheets before being cut into fresh pasta.
Before leaving Pasar Santa, we also visited POST Bookshop, a small independent bookstore with a calm and thoughtful atmosphere.
Pasar Santa feels like a hidden creative space in Jakarta, full of music, coffee, vintage finds, and unexpected discoveries.
Thank you for exploring with me.
