When Cobra Comes Seeking Peace for Hamed
Cobra arrived at the old house just as the afternoon sun was fading behind the hills. She had come with a single intention: to make peace on behalf of Hamed, hoping to end the tension that had been growing for weeks. The air felt heavy, as if the walls themselves were waiting for the confrontation.
Manizheh opened the door before Cobra could knock. Her eyes were sharp, filled with frustration that had been simmering beneath the surface.
“Why are you here again?” she asked, her voice trembling with restrained anger.
Cobra took a slow breath. “I came to talk. Hamed wants peace. He wants this to end.”
But Manizheh stepped forward, refusing to let the calm settle. “Peace? After everything? You think you can just walk in and fix it?”
The argument rose like a storm—words clashing, emotions spilling into the hallway. Yet beneath the tension, there was a strange sense of longing, as if both women wished the conflict would dissolve.
As their voices echoed through the house, the workers outside continued painting the doors. The fresh colors—soft blue, warm beige, and a deep earthy brown—stood in contrast to the heated exchange inside. Each brushstroke seemed to whisper a reminder that renewal was possible, even when people struggled to find common ground.
Eventually, the shouting softened. Manizheh leaned against the wall, exhausted. Cobra lowered her gaze, her voice gentle now.
“We don’t have to agree on everything. But we can stop hurting each other.”
Outside, the painters finished the final door, leaving behind a row of freshly colored frames glowing in the evening light. The house looked calmer, almost hopeful.
Inside, the silence felt like the first step toward something new.
