Welcome to the 2011 chapter of our London Gypsy Orchestra archive series! This was a transformative year packed with hands-on workshops for newcomers: a vibrant season where musicians from other genres came together to learn authentic Balkan and Romani traditions under the guidance of master professionals. This landmark year was defined by two unforgettable community initiatives — the Gypsy-It! and Gypsy Exchange projects. A key highlight of 2011 was our profound collaboration with the Czureja family, a Polish Romani musical family. Virtuoso violinist and dancer Ricardo Marek, along with his son Benjamin on guitar, shared their deep cultural heritage with us. Watching Gundula and Marek’s high-energy violins take flight together on stage remains one of the most magical moments in LGO history! Featured 2011 Highlights: ▪ Round Chapel (Gypsy-It!
