Rare Gathering 5 Wild Moose at Warm Creek, Yellowstone

An early morning visit to Warm Creek in Yellowstone National Park reveals an extraordinary sight: five wild moose congregating together in a small mountain meadow. As three bulls, a cow, and a calf quietly feed on willow browse in the cold morning air, two of the larger mature bulls step toward one another, gently clicking and testing their massive antlers in a calm display of seasonal sparring. Seeing this many moose gathered in a single pocket of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem is a special encounter. As the peak of the autumn breeding season begins to taper off in mid-to-late October, bull moose often transition back into loose bachelor associations or tolerate closer proximity around remaining cows.
