Power Trip is a fusion of Metal, Alternative Metal and Hip-Hop and is about the way that Governments around the World are trying to stifle innocent, peaceful protests at the way in which they run these countries. It is about how speaking out lands you in jail, how they tax you to death and how they keep you downtrodden to keep you in line. Many thanks. ‪@RichardPoile63‬ [Verse 1] Concrete walls and a velvet chair They speak in tongues and they breathe our air Promises framed on a hollow wall While the rent goes up and the ceilings fall Working the clock till the fingers bleed Just to feed the taxman's endless greed Bread on the table is turning thin And they lock the door when we try to spin [Chorus] Power trip, power trip, high on the throne Left us to rust in the cold and alone Crying for change, but the sirens wail Speaking the truth and they throw us in jail They turn the blind eye, they turn the deaf ear Trading our lives for a pocket of fear [Verse 2] Borders wide open, the cities swell Turning the suburbs into a shell Every small business is scraping by Watching the smoke rise into the sky High-rise towers that nobody owns While the families sleep on the asphalt stones Protestors marching, the banners high Met with the baton and the tear-gas sky [Chorus] Power trip, power trip, high on the throne Left us to rust in the cold and alone Crying for change, but the sirens wail Speaking the truth and they throw us in jail They turn the blind eye, they turn the deaf ear Trading our lives for a pocket of fear [Bridge] We built the road that you're driving on We paid the debt till the light was gone You sit in the dark and you count the cost Ignorant of everything we lost Can you hear the rumble underneath your feet? That's the sound of the waking street! [Guitar Solo] [Instrumental Breakdown] [Verse 3] Hands in the air, but they look right through Another regulation for me and you Working ourselves to an early grave Just to be labeled the modern slave They say we’re free, but the cage is locked Every single door that we ever knocked [Outro] Hear the voices rise No more compromise Break the glass Break the chain We will be heard again [Fade to silence]
