1993-10-06 Don't Put On The Ring Just Yet

6 Oct 1993 - Ross wakes up quickly when Blake dangles the engagement ring on her finger in front of his face. She then takes a phone call from Holly and thinks something's wrong with her mother. Blake rants about Ed getting involved with Eve Guthrie. Blake wonders why Ross isn't more concerned for his best friend, but Ross thinks she's jumping to conclusions - like with the ring. When Ross tells her to take off the ring, Blake argues that the boundaries of marriage will give her safety and structure to her life. Ross wants a pre-marital preview of Blake being a loyal, faithful wife. Blake is encouraged that Ross still wants to get married someday. Later, Blake sees her mother and listens as Holly explains how Ed turned her down, while Ross runs into Ed at the diner. Ed quickly steers the small-talk to himself with Eve. Ross plays innocent, so Ed takes him outside to talk. Ross admits that he's a bit surprised there's more between Ed and Eve than he originally thought, but he doesn't automatically disapprove. Ross wonders if Ed's heard what others have said about Eve. Ed reminds Ross how foolish he [Ross] seemed when he started with Blake. Ed knows he looks like a fool, but he's finally happy again. Ross wonders why not Holly, but Ed reminds him of Holly's connection to Roger. At Holly's, Blake thinks her mother still has a good chance against Eve for Ed's affections, but Holly thinks Ed only cares for her as a friend.
