Chopin - Scherzo no. 2 op. 31 - Vladimir Krainev

From an old Melodiya LP. This is one of the best versions I have ever heard. Unfortunately, the record was quite worn and noisy, but I did not do much with it cause the original sound of the pianoforte was so wonderful, I did not want to change anything. He has great musicality, a warm touch and is a stunning virtuoso at the same time. A rare combination, and so important for Chopin. Krainev, born in 1944, is now a professor in Hannover, Germany. The record is from the early 1970s, it must have been one of his first LPs.
