Television News Producer Reel for Maggie Minton

My name is Maggie Minton. I have been a television news producer for the last 4 years for WMBD/WYZZ News. This reel is meant to showcase my writing skills, my use of graphics, and how I manage live shots or in-studio stand-ins. I began as a morning producer for Good Day Central Illinois— a lifestyle show focusing on entertainment, consumer news, health news, and liveshots from national reporters. This show was full of live interviews with local organizations, and on-air demonstrations, and fun segments with the anchors. This required strong writing and interpersonal skills as I organized interviews with guests, developed intros and questions, made new graphics, wrote web stories for upcoming events, and acted as a liason between the station and interviewees. After 2 years producing the morning show, I moved to our evening shows where I produced WMBD News at 4 and WMBD News at 6. The 4 o'clock show was full of hard-hitting national headlines, meanwhile the 6 o'clock show had a strong focus on what was happening locally around Central Illinois and across the state. This meant coordinating with reporters from all over Illinois while meeting broadcast deadlines. On this show I created new monitor graphics, maps, fullscreens, and dynamic camera shots. I also wrote scripts for broadcast, as well as edited video and audio for VOs, SOTVOs, PKGs, and raw interviews. This television news producer reel is meant to showcase some of these creative camera shots, my writing, a few of the interviews and demonstrations I organized, and the graphics I created during my time with the station.
