Here are 2 awesome facts, for pc engine! While other consoles wouldn’t support games on CDs until well into the 1990s (or even longer, in Nintendo’s case), the forward-looking PC Engine got an add-on CD-ROM player in 1988. This allowed for greater storage and CD-quality sound, and some of the games, such as 1993‘s Castlevania: Rondo Of Blood, made full use of this new-found technology. The PC Engine may have been small, but it held some fairly impressive hardware under its shell. Boasting an 8-bit processor but also packing a dual 16-bit GPU, it was effectively the first 16-bit console on the market, beating the Sega Mega Drive to Japan’s shelves by a full year. please : rate , comment & subscribe :D Retro forever!
