Counterfeit

Not everything that looks like light comes from the Light. Not everyone who speaks the name of Jesus speaks for Him. “Counterfeit” is a call to biblical discernment in a time when truth can be mixed with deception, Scripture can be twisted, and a message can sound good while leading people away from the true gospel of Jesus Christ. The counterfeit is dangerous because it often looks close to the real thing. That is why we must know His voice. Know His Word. Test the spirits. Examine the fruit. Hold firmly to the truth. Jesus warned that false prophets would come, and Scripture tells us not to believe every spirit, but to test the spirits to see whether they are from God (Matthew 7:15–20; 1 John 4:1). Popularity does not determine truth. A large following does not determine truth. Signs and wonders do not determine truth. God’s Word is the standard. Give me Jesus. Give me truth. I don’t want the counterfeit.
