Castle Rat - Fresh Fur (Live in Montreal 2026)

Castle Rat took over a sold-out Beanfield Theatre in Montreal and delivered far more than a concert. I walked in with sky-high expectations, and the show went beyond anything I had imagined. It was a tightly rehearsed piece of musical theatre in epic doom metal form. Elaborate costumes, life-size characters, heroic choreographed combat, a fantasy storyline, a solo moment for every musician and full character introductions. Nothing was missing. The band even pulled the crowd into the story, which made the night truly magical. Riley Pinkerton, "The Rat Queen", was hypnotic and ultra-charismatic, holding the room with a confident gaze that was impossible to look away from. The sound was clear, every instrument could be heard with remarkable precision, and I never expected to see people slamming at a doom rock show. The Montreal crowd went absolutely wild. Montreal never disappoints. This video captures "Fresh Fur", from their debut album Into the Realm (2024), a perfect showcase of the band's absolute synchronicity on stage.
