Civ 7's next update is a big one! Civilization 7 Update 1.5.1 lands the week of November 9, and you'll finally be able to liberate cities (return captured settlements to their original founders) and free conquered city-states that were under your Suzerainty to reclaim their bonuses. There's also a second Earth map, Randomized Earth, with procedural terrain and a choice of historic or random start locations. And another new world! A delicious looking Donut map with oceans inside and out. Great People are getting a rethink too. No more training them from the production queue. Instead, you'll unlock them by meeting unique gameplay conditions. I wonder what impact this will have on existing civ design? Add the new Unit List and Map Search panels, and a tease that the Firaxis Feature Workshop will soon get its first hands-on look at the Atomic Age, and it's a lot for a point release. Update 1.5.1 for Sid Meier's Civilization VII was announced by 2K and Firaxis on 3 November (4 November here in New Zealand). It may be the last major update of 2026, with the free Arc of Tomorrow update (the Atomic Age, roughly the 1950s to the 2050s) and Earthrise, the first paid expansion both coming in 2027. Full patch notes, with the bug fixes and stability improvements, are due next week. Everything in Update 1.5.1 is free, as is the Arc of Tomorrow update. Earthrise is the paid expansion.
