Learn manual defibrillation in a simulated adult cardiac arrest: assessment, CPR, pad placement, rhythm review, clearing the patient, shock delivery and immediate CPR. Defibrillation treats shockable rhythms such as ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia. Follow the device instructions and local protocol for energy selection; the filmed display is a training example. Keep pauses around a shock as short as possible and restart compressions immediately afterward. Check for a pulse for no more than 10 seconds. If no definite pulse is felt in an unresponsive adult with absent or abnormal breathing, begin CPR promptly. Apply pads according to their manufacturer instructions. Activate additional help and ensure everyone is clear before shock delivery. References: AHA2025 Adult Advanced Life Support: https://cpr.heart.org/en/resuscitatio...
