Welcome, everyone. I'm going to beat every game in the Sega Genesis library.
The full Sega Genesis spreadsheet is here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
Why I'm doing this:
For two years I wanted to begin this project, but the thought of beating nearly 1,000 Sega Genesis games felt overwhelming. The inspiration that finally pushed me to commit came from Markiplier. Watching his journey from Let's Plays to independently creating Iron Lung showed me that seemingly impossible goals can become reality through persistence. It made me realize that if he could achieve a monumental dream, I could pursue mine. This challenge exists because his example gave me the courage to finally begin.
How often do I stream:
I usually start around 10PM or 11PM (MST) on a weekday and go for anywhere between 2 to 4 hours, depending on my mood. I try to go for 5 out of 7 days or 15-20 hours per week. I could stream less often on weekends.

So, on to the rules:
Rule 1: The game is played on the default difficulty. I will play it to the end credits, but not to completion. No optional collectables or post game is required.
1.2: If it has no end credits such as a sports game, I must win a single match or scenario.
1.3: If the game requires outside knowledge such as a trivia game (like Jeopardy) then I will play one authentic round of the game win or lose. Why? Because this involves less of mastering a Sega game and more on years of external life experience knowledge.
Rule 2: The next game picked is usually randomized. However, when an upcoming game is divisible by 5, I will allow comment picks for 5 minutes to select my next game if you'd like.
Rule 3: No cheat codes (Naturally).
Rule 4: Save states will be used in three cases:
Time Redundancy: If I can consistently clear an area a few times and come across a tedious area, I will use a save state to redo the tedious moment. This is to massively save time for you and for me.
Game Design Problem: If the game does something that interferes with my success that doesn't involve skill, I will use a save state.
Extremely Difficult or Extremely Tedious Games: If progress is halted by repeated failure attempts,
I will regularly use save states as necessary to
continue making progress.
Rule 5: Strategy Guides
5.1: Strategy guides are allowed if the game doesn't explain controls, mechanics, or being isolated in an area for 10+ minutes. Since the Genesis is an early system, sometimes it isn't upfront in explaining things properly or at all.
5.2: Strategy guides are explicitly banned for mental skills such as puzzle games, strategy games, or other brainpower moments or cases. However... these are allowed for heavy cases of rule 4.
Rule 6: The Consistency Feature:
This is used to tell when save states are allowed. Here's how it works.
6.1: The left number represents the level that I've reached twice. This means that I've been consistent and can now use a save state here. So if I game over, I can save time by returning and not wasting time returning there.
6.2: The right number is the farthest I've traveled but have only reached once. I need to reach this area again a second time to reach the eligibility of a save state.
Rule 7: Dropping Games
In rare and extreme cases, sometimes a Sega Genesis game may be dropped if its design creates unreasonable barriers to completion that fall outside the intended scope of the project.
Examples include:
7.1: Games requiring extensive mastery of a highly specialized real-world skill or strategy game beyond a reasonable time investment for this challenge (Example: Game #15).
7.2: Games with design limitations such as cheating AI, unfair advantages, unclear progression requirements, or mechanics that make completion excessively impractical or inconsistent (Example: Game #15).
Rule 8: Temporarily Shelving Games
At times, especially with RPG's, the pace of this project will become excruciatingly slow. For example, if the game is 40 to 50 hours long and has 95% grinding, it will demoralize myself and the viewers if these games go on for too long.
If this happens the following steps will be taken:
1. Play the game for six hours.
2. Temporarily shelve the game.
3. The game will return to the randomizer wheel.
4. The game number won't change since the game is not finished. It will be replaced.
5. Once the game is selected again, it will become another six hours and repeat.
6. This process will go until the game is finished.
