I only know, come what may, I could never forget you...--❞ Nacida originalmente de la pluma del célebre cantautor argentino Mario Clavell en 1947 bajo el título "Somos", la pieza es ampliamente reconocida como uno de los boleros más desgarradores y perfectos del cancionero hispanoamericano. Para la proyección internacional de Raphael en el mercado anglosajón, la obra fue adaptada al inglés por el prestigioso letrista británico Norman Newell bajo el título "Maybe", contando con la impecable dirección orquestal de Alyn Ainsworth. Editada en 1970/1971 como cara B del sencillo estadounidense Show Us The Way (United Artists 50.734), la canción encontró uno de sus escaparates audiovisuales más importantes en el mítico plató de The Ed Sullivan Show, transmitido por la CBS el 27 de diciembre de 1970. Líricamente, la versión conserva la carga dramática y la intensidad pasional del texto original, transformando la desesperación del amor imposible en una declaración lírica de entrega eterna a través de las sombras y el tiempo. En esta interpretación histórica, Raphael elimina la introducción reposada para sumergirse de lleno en la vena más visceral de la trama. El propio Mario Clavell llegó a manifestar que la dramática aproximación del astro de Linares constituía la versión definitiva y más lograda del tema, consolidando así el genio interpretativo del jiennense para trasladar la esencia del bolero latinoamericano a las audiencias angloparlantes de la época.
