When Imam Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) refused to pledge allegiance, Yazid ordered that Imam Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) should be made to pledge allegiance at all costs. If Imam Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) does not pledge allegiance, then martyr him. The incident of Karbala took place on the orders of the accursed Yazid and in this incident, 72 members of the family of the Prophet (peace be upon him) were martyred.
