Weathered Maps is the fictional debut album by Northbound Ash, imagined as a forgotten folk psychedelic rock record released in 1972. Some journeys aren't measured in miles. They're measured in the places that stay with you. Across four songs, Weathered Maps follows quiet trails through forests, rivers, orchards and forgotten paths, finding meaning in ordinary landscapes rather than extraordinary events. These are songs about paying attention, to changing light, worn objects, silent mornings and the feeling that nature often understands more than we do. Released at a time when folk music was beginning to stretch beyond its traditional roots, the album occupies a space somewhere between intimate songwriting and quiet exploration. Nothing here feels rushed. Every song seems content to let the listener stop, look around and keep walking. More than fifty years later, Weathered Maps remains one of those records that feels less like a destination than a companion for the road.
