Instead of celebrating with his team, he was in a Long Island project, high on cocaine, a decision that haunted him deeply. Gooden admitted that this missed opportunity paralleled the grief of losing his mother, underscoring the profound regret and emotional turmoil his addiction caused. Now in a better place mentally, Gooden continues to grapple with his past, aiming to forgive himself as others have forgiven him.
