I wanted an inexpensive Proxmox server so I turned to the business-class HP Z6 G4 workstation and fitted it with a handful of SSDs to use as ZFS pools! Let's look at how to hook up the drives, verify they are in good health, and then install and configure Proxmox!
Parts List

2x 1TB and 2x 2TB SSDs - serverpartdeals.com
2x ICY DOCK Dual 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch Adapter for Internal 3.5" Drive Bay - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GMGZBP0

Cable Matters 3-Pack Straight SATA Cable - 18 Inch - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018Y2LCEI
The HP Z6 G4 does not have the hidden BIOS option to run without a GPU so we must use one. Proxmox was set up using 2 ZFS pools: One pool of mirrored 1TB drives is for the base installation and any install media images while the second pool of mirrored 2TB drives is for VMs.
