Through Memory and Oblivion – Pińczów

In “Pińczów," traces of a once-thriving and large Jewish community, now survive only in fragile remnants. Streets were once paved with matzevot whose inscriptions were worn away by passing feet, a Renaissance synagogue damaged by wartime use and years of neglect, and cemeteries built over with schools and garages. Voices of residents and descendants reveal efforts to preserve memory and warn how exclusion and dehumanization led to tragedy, asking whether Pińczów can still hold on to the dawn it once symbolized.
