Sonic 3 & Knuckles - Hydrocity 1 Knuckles: 121900 (Score Attack)

Alright, now we're into the crazy stuff. This beats the previous record by 16,500 points. Knuckles can get some really big combos in the game in almost every stage. The reason being that combos do not break until you touch the ground. This means with Knux, gliding to and from walls can keep a combo going, as well as some objects (for example in this stage, the pulleys do not break a combo). But the utility with the glide and climb really sets Knuckles apart from the other characters. For example, all of 0:43 - 2:18 is a combo. As is all of 3:04 - 5:00. As well as 5:14 - 5:41, and 8:20 - 9:16. Not only does it allow for big combos, but they can also take a long time, because falling while gliding takes a long time, and they usually involve a decent amount of backtracking if they are super big. This actually makes most stages fall under a ton of time pressure, as the stages are big, you want all the rings and you want to do these combos that take a long time, and you've only got 10 minutes. This stage is no exception - I had 3 previous attempts that nailed every combo that Time Overed on or right before the boss. The routing elements for the combos & to minimize the time to allow for the long combos throughout the whole stage is extremely fun. Especially when combined with the technical ability to pull it all off. There are also several technical things that may go unnoticed, such as maneuvers to avoid enemy despawns, or to spawn their cycles in the right ways to allow them to be comboed. Score Attacking has quietly become one of my favourite ways to play the games now, in some cases actually surpassing pure speedrunning. I am not aware of any possible improvements to this, this was perfect for what I was aiming for.
