The purpose of this video is a demonstration of the disassembly and reassembly of the late war type Walther K43 without the disassembly latch and with the locking wedge retainer. This rifle displays the pinnacle of how Walther was able to develop and improve the design as time progressed up until the capture of the factory in April of 1945 at which point production and further development ceased forever. It’s important to note that this action only had a few years to develop, even if the preceding G41 is considered. Its entire service existence can practically be considered mass production prototype troop trials. The design was being revised as long as Walther was operational and able to work on it. Contrary to popular myth, not everything was a desperate effort to get rifles out the door of ever-decreasing quality. The designers at Walther were dedicated to their craft and maintained a constant effort to provide a better rifle to their troops.
